Baby Porridge Fingers

Such an easy way to serve porridge to babies from 6 months of age, in a way they can hold it themselves. Letting them explore flavours and textures independently, as well as giving you free hands to enjoy your breakfast too.

Ingredients:

  • Regular Porridge oats or GF*
  • Whole milk – cows or plant based*

Optional Extras:

  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • A few berries like blueberries or raspberries
  • Half a mashed banana
  • Chopped plums, nectarines or mango
  • Half a grated carrot or 1 peeled and grated apple
  • 1 tsp of vanilla or almond extract
  • 1 tbsp of nut butter
  • 1 tbsp of mixed seeds like chia or flax seeds

Method:

Grab a small microwaveable box and half fill with oats counting the number of tablespoons as you go and add the same quantity of milk.

Add your flavourings, mix well then pat down all the sides so it’s level on top. Microwave for 2-3 minutes depending on the size of your box. It should feel firm to touch so you may need to cook for an extra 30 seconds or so.

Allow to sit for 2 minutes before cutting into strips then turning out onto a wooden board using a spatula to cool further.

Don’t have a microwave? Increase the quantities and bake in an ovenproof dish for 20-30 minutes at 180d/360F.

Suitable from 6 month.  Keep in the fridge for 2 days or freeze for 3 months.
